Setting up some new Westcott Stroblites at the studio.  Used a 36X48 Softbox as my main light and a 17X50 Stripbank.  f/5.6 1/200 at ISO 200.  Mainlight was set to 3/4 power, stripbank between 1/4 and 1/2 power.  If I had had more time, I would have made the background go dark except for the window and the Bokeh lights.

Ring Flash

Ring Flash

Popcorn, the sequel will have to wait for another night.  I had a $25 Amazon card burning a hole in my pocket so I thought I would try out one of the cheap ring flash attachments.  So, sticking one on my Nissin Di866 Pro and setting it on stun, the wife and daughter fled behind locked doors.  Fortunately, the cats were curious about the crazy contraption strapped on the front of my canon.  Not too crazy about the catch light.  Will re-evaluate with some Macro photography and as fill for a larger wrap around main light.

Popcorn Part I

Work, weather and the return of CGIS all conspired to restrict my time on tonights project.  So, in Part I I turned the white wall behind the popcorn black and got my camera and strobe settings figured out.  Tomorrow I’ll line the popcorn box with foil to direct the Morris flash up, so hopefully only the popcorn will glow.  I’ll also add more popcorn.

#Strobe365 Unexpected Light Source

Which came first...the cat or the egg?

I guess she was jealous the boys got their pictures on the blog.  I was mad she kept interrupting my shoot until I realized the lesson she was teaching me.  Daisy’s white fur was giving me a touch of light on the dark side of the egg.  Anything white can be turned into a reflector and become another source of light…

Spotlight on Buckeye Basketball.

f/4.0, 1/200 ISO 100.  Interfit Strobie snoot with 40 degree grid suspended above on a Nissin Di866 at 1/32 power and a second Nissin Di866 at 1/64 power with a Rogue Flash Bender wrapped into a snoot camera right.  Flashes triggered by inexpensive radio triggers from Cowboy Studio.
